blues junior? thoughts?

Hi Guys,

I am really thinking about getting a blues junior amp. Few questions though. HOw many channels does it have and how does it fair for cleans and distortion? Also do you guys think it is good or possible for it to double as an acoustic amplifier? Finally how loud is this bad boy and do you think its loud enough to jam with a drum set? Single channel. Amazing cleans, but for distortion you really need new tubes and a new speaker (that helps the cleans, too). It takes pedals like a dream. I've used mine to adjust my mag mic, but other than that I've had no experience with acoustics through it. It should be fine with a drum set.

I use a Blues Junior at home mostly as a practice amp and it's a cool amp I did make a few changes in mine I put JJ tubes in and also have a Celestion G12H30 in there at the moment.

Not sure about using an acoustic through it maybe through a acoustic processor first might be better, For 15Watts it can be loud enough to cut through but it all depends on the music you play and how loud your drummer is.

I have the Blues Junior Relic which came with a factory Jensen that blew last Friday. I replaced it with what I thought was going to be a speaker to get me by for the weekend, but I think it will be the new speaker that I keep, but that speaker is a Crate V series speaker from the little Crate 15 watt class a amp. It sounds great. My favorite trick with the BJ for cleans is to crank the master volume all the way up and then control it from there with the preamp volume (gain). I add the TS9DX and can sustain with the best of em. Or I can crank up the gain and use the master volume to get good overdrive sounds at managable volumes.The reverb is usable up to about 5 for me and yes, I think know it's loud enough to keep up with a drummer. My brother, I swear, plays as hard as John Bohnam and I can keep up with him. It it a very basic single channel amp that sounds great, is plenty loud, and very portable. I would go for one especiall for the price.

I picked one up cheap and did the Billm mods to it (reverb, presence, brightness) and got new tubes for it from Bob at Eurotubes.

Turned it into a decent amp to a great amp I can gig with (and have). I preferred the sound of it to my Peavey Classic 30.

Now I've got a second Blues Jr. around that's getting the same mods and is going out to my brother in L.A.

I'm here to sing the praises of the B Jr, although I doubt it would make a very good acoustic amp. There is a brand of acoustic amps that are quite reasonable, but I forget the name. Try asking over on the AGF.
