I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but help me out -- what Duncan pickups do you like for blues in a Les Paul? thanks!! :cool2: :thanks:

Re: Blues pups in a Les Paul?

For blues I use my Alnico II Pro set. For rock and even metal I use my Pearly Gates set.

Pearly Gates are where it's at for blues and classic rock in a Les Paul. You'll love 'em!

Re: Blues pups in a Les Paul?

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I already have an LP-ish Guild M75 with paf clones with alnico 2 mags, so I want to go with something a little more raucous for this project. After checking the descriptions on the SD website, it looks like the PGs are the way to go this time. Thanks! :bigok:

It depends on what type of tone makes you happy..

There are so many different combos that work for a Les Paul... and the same combos that may be used for rock can be used for blues or even metal... it really depends on your preference..

I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard w/ JB (neck) & Pearly Gates (bridge) that can be used for rock or metal or blues..

The 59 neck/JB bridge is always popular..
The Jazz neck/59 bridge is not bad..
The Alnico Pro II neck/Pearly Gates bridge - clear
The 59 neck/Custom 5 screamer...

It depends on what you need..

I am probably changing my Les Paul Custom's EMG 89 neck/EMG 85 bridge to Duncan's so.. I may go Alnico Pro II neck/Custom 5 or Screaming Demon bridge...

Not sure... I may even just change it to an EMG 89 bridge so I can get a wider range of sounds with the dual mode pickups..

Re: Blues pups in a Les Paul?

Seths, but my ideal for blues is Seth Bridge/PGn. You'll LOVE that combo.
The Seth bridge is a bit warmer than the PGb and the PGn is a bit brighter than the Seth neck. For me, that's ideal.
