Blues Saraceno pickups

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

The '59s Blues is talking about, are they the SH-1 '59 or the TB591b?
And what;s the difference between the 4-Conductor model and the original one?

If the specific guitar he had them in had a tremolo, I'm sure they were the TB591b pickups.

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

Weren't the Parallel Axis humbuckers made before the rest of the TREMBUCKER line were in production? If that's true then I can't see why Blues Saraceno would use a TB59b if his own PATB-3 was available at that time of the PLAID album.

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

When he first came out he was on Dimarzios player list using Freds. Some of the magazine photos confirm this as you can see the allen pole pieces. It wasnt very long before the switch to duncan. I have seen some of his plaid guitars with either of these as well as regular pole piece humbuckers.

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

Yes, I also seem to remember Blues using Dimarzio when I first heard of him (late 80's?).

Over last weekend, I had the chance to put my PATB3 in the bridge position of my Hamer Diablo (25 1/2" scale bolt neck, alder body, rosewood board with Floyd). The pickup I had there was not well suited to the guitar. Made it sound too thin. The Blues Trembucker was just what it needed! It sounds fat & beefy, with incredible crunch! Ultimate rock tone!

I'd tried the PA-TB3 in my Hamer Chapparal (24 3/4" scale, set neck, mahogany body with Floyd) and it totally wasn't right in that guitar. The B at the 7th fret on the low E string became annoyingly boomy. The Blues Trembucker was adding a beefy low end to a guitar that already had plenty of low end. I ended up putting a Dimarzio PAF Pro in that guitar and that sounds fine.

In the right guitar, the Blues Trembucker just smokes!!

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

difference is that big in floyd-trem equipped guitars ?
i got a gibson 500 pickup in the bridge position, it souds good to my ears, not too thin, not too fat, the PATB can improve even that ?
i wish i had 100$ to explore right now ;[
i hate school, glad it's over in two weeks, so i can find a damn job

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

Yeah. The 500 is hotter. It is a flame thrower. But if you go to a Blues trembucker, your sound will go from hot and shrieky, to FAT and chunky. It will be almost like you are switching to a les paul. But, the blues still gets great harmonics too.

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

The PATB 3 reminded me of a C5 when I had one, except it seemed to have a 3D quality to it. It's hard to explain, but they are definitely cool pickups. I have a PATB 2 and PATB 1b in the neck, and it makes such a good sound. It's like the sound surrounds you rather than just coming straight at you.

yeah, i love the 500t, but sometimes it's ibanez like and lacks tone, like it's dead or something, hehe, like those low end ibanez pickups. the patb2 you say ? hmmm

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

yes and those cheap ibanez powersound things are the worst things ive ever heard

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

you know what i noticed after you talked about the distortion ? that the strings do not match the pole pieces on this guitar, and it's from the factory, never modded, (Gibson M-3), weird that gibson would make a mistake like that. you do get sound, but i'm not sure it's to the best extent

In all honesty, they are NOTHING alike. The C5 is bright and thin to some, the PATB-3 is VERY thick and fat. You put a C5 in a Dark guitar, you put a PATB-3 in something that is harsh and bright. Seriously, they are 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. Nothing is like a PATB-3.

Re: Blues Saraceno pickups

I haven't tried the PATB-3, but I have the Original Parallel Axis TB (TB-2?) and it absolutely smokes in my floyd equiped superstrat. I think of it as the "Custom Custom" of the PATB series,

Awsome pickups....I just wish they came in double creme!

well after reading this i must try one now

if it is the CC of the PA series i am sold since i absolutely love the CC
