I did this last weekend and forgot to post. I am not a very good blues player at all but Stevo's great backing track made this a blast. This was the most fun I have had recording in a while.

This is a Custom Custom not split but kinda split. This guitar has a push/pull pot that reduces the output of the pickups so they sound like they are split without all of the noise... I don't know exactly what you call it.

Re: Blues Solo (Stevo Backing Track)

Impressive. You got the old school chops going there, which I'm still working on. Nice clean technique.

Re: Blues Solo (Stevo Backing Track)

Thanks man. I has happy with it. That was the first time I had really used a tone like that.

Re: Blues Solo (Stevo Backing Track)

Man, you're playing is awesome! True, it's not really blues style, yet it's very solid. Great work! :)

There's some very nice stuff on there, RGN!! You can play some very fast lines!
My only suggestion would be to try to make the phrases a wee bit longer; it's obvious you have the skills to do it. Or, if you prefer the shorter phrases, and keep the pauses, perhaps do a call and response thing? There's a really good example of this on Dokken's "Lightnin' Strikes Again". Lynch plays what are essentially two solos that overlap each other like a conversation ...

I liked the tone + the note choice, tho! Very nice!

Re: Blues Solo (Stevo Backing Track)

Thanks a lot guys. I was trying to play SRV like phrases although I obviously can't do that kind of thing very well compared to others on here. It really was great fun. Some of the stuff we have done lately on here has been damn hard to play over. It is great fun to just sit back and jam once in a while. My damn Eb tuning sometimes makes things a challenge since this was actually played in A# on my guitar- not exactly a key I have command over.

I am not really a traditional shredder. I am more from the Lynch/Gary Moore school of speedy runs with cool (hopefully) phrasing.

This isn't really shred but I think you'll dig it TO (if you haven't heard it already) since you are a Lynch fan also..

Who says I'm a Lynch fan?!! :D
Dude, that was very nice. I think you would appreciate the music of a good friend of mine. He's a killer guitarist, also in the Lynch style. His name is Jay.

I have heard some of Jay's material before- very nice. That dude is a very good player. It has been a while, I'll go and check out his site again later tonight.

Thanks for posting that link.

No problem. Jay and I traded solos a couple of months ago on a tribute CD that my band was part of. We covered a Dokken song, of course, and Jay was the at the top of my list for doing a duelling guitar solo!

Nice :) Blues rock! Some hard rock mixed with a nice blues vibe.
