Blues Trembucker

So I got a Blues Trembucker in today. I yanked a TB6 Distortion out of the bridge of my Hamer USA Californian and dropped the Blues in. Hot damn, this is one sweet pickup. I'll tell you what, I really didn't know what to expect. But the Blues is very articulate, with great harmonics and nice tonal characteristics. It's not as low-middy as the Distortion, and not as compressed. This is one of the few pickups that sounded good with both rhythms and leads. And it handles heavy gain and cleans very well. I'll give it some more time, but I might have to get a few more of these for other guitars.

Hey Travis.i just posted my "review" on the patb-3 two "threads" after this one of yours...i see we were both hearing the same things and equally impressed about this pup!!! it's definately killer and stayin' in this ibanez...

Yep, just read your review. It was dead on. It's good to hear that the pickup works just as well in a basswood/maple combo Ibanez as it does in my mahogany/maple Californian.

Strange - you don't see too many threads about this one, and today there are 2. I too installed a Blues this week and have seen the light. I'm surprised they're not more popular, though they do seem hard to come by. Not sure if that's why they're not popular or vice versa. Anyway, don't buy them all up - I'm going to need more too. Definitely a secret weapon.

yeah,i thought it was wild that two of us on the forum posted reviews on the patb-3 with almost back-to-back threads.that's great,though,because "Kel" is correct in saying that this pickup is definately a duncan "secret weapon".i think that it's non-traditional look,it's higher "custom shop" price tag(correction=actually not a "custom shop" item,just listed as a "pro shop" pup on the box,but still within the standard-order duncan pickup line.just one of their pricier pups) and the rare abililty to find a used one-ARE the main reasons that it is a relatively unknown and/or undiscovered pup!!! ...for you guys out there that love a medium-low output pup with a warm,clear paf-ish tone with a touch of extra mids-crunch and sweet harmonics for days - this IS your baby!!! really,the perfect combination of the '59b and the C5 with a little 'demon twist on top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ummm,yummy!!! LOL:dance: :dance: :dance:

well.i'm looking at the box that this pup comes with & on it,it says "pro shop".so i may be mis-stating this pickup,from my last reply to this thread,by refering to it as having "custom shop" pricing.i guess,what i was trying to state is that this pickup,along with the other two "parallel axis" version pups have a significantly higher list price than most of the rest of the duncan line pickups...which,in turn,i believe may be another variable of why the patb-3 is not as commonly purchased.sorry for the confusion,if any!!! i have made a correction,now,to that last reply of mine on this matter.good point,though!

Yeah, pro shop and custom shop are not one and the same.

BTW I posted a thread asking for reviews of this pickup like 3 weeks ago. Not much response.

So is this a better choice than the VHOT PAF from Dimarzio? Does it own the overwound 10k PAf range? lol the topic is banned!
