body wood suggestions for custom guitar?

The neck it's going with is a bolt on maple one with an ebony fretboard. Also we are most likely using a floud rose.

Looking for something:
Relatively Affordable
Lightweight
Resonant
Warmer sound
Pleasant grain to look at.

Open to combinations too like differeny figured tops etc. Anything outside of typical Alder, Ash, Basswood, Mahogany, Maple, Rosewood?

Koa. Warmoth has both off the shelf selections (ready made bodies) or you can build your own from start to finish and select different forms of koa as your laminate top. If you buy an off the shelf model from the ready made guitar body section, you can have a koa guitar body too (if building a strat from scratch you can only use koa as your laminate top). Some other creative choices there too. Good luck!

Koa is VERY nice. It has some tonal characteristics of mahogany, although maybe it's better described as mahogany lite.

Probably not very cheap though, since it only grows in the Hawaiian islands...

Koa is one of my favorite tone woods. Beautiful lines. The good stuff costs thousands if you can find it. ( It's pronounced coo A) lol

Black Limba/Korina, may not be relitively affordable though.
