I have one of the Telebration Fender Teles roughly worth 2k dollars and you can fit a coin on each side of the neck pocket when the neck is on. Shouldn't be a problem.
That's a sad tale.
Well I have to admit, you can't actually fit a coin in there but there is a very notiable gap, that shouldn't be there. You'd think that Fender has had the time to fine tune their pocket and neck routing machines by now.
But it sounds and plays good, and stays in tune so no problem.
Another odd thing about this Telebration model (75 blcok tele custom) is that those are to celebrate Teles history and legacy and were limited special editions. Mine is ash body in natural finish and the best they can do is make the body out of 3 pieces... on a natural finish...
I have heard some strats/teles can be 5 piece or more. There's pics floating around the net i think. The neck pocket isn't good enough considering even cheap china kits can get it right. But if it plays good then who cares.
Yeah, if it plays good then who cares.
Me personally I wouldn't want anything more than 2 pieces for a Natural Finish...
My shinobi build is 10 piece.
Also, be careful to resist the temptation to tighten the neck screws too far.
Personally I like the neck to be snug. Is the neck finished? If it is I have had good results gluing paper to the sides of the pocket, if it's not adding a finish will tighten up the gap.
