Bonamassa / Gary Moore tone in my Epi LP Custom

I have an Epi LP Custom in Wine Red finish.. rosewood fingerboard.. plays and looks like a dream. I thought about replicating my tone from my other LP Custom, but the more I thought about it, why have two guitars with the same tone? So, I have always loved Gary Moore's tone from his LP... and now I am totally fixated on Joe Bonamassa's tone and playing. This guitar is VERY bright, so I want to smooth out the highs, have the articulation and grit as well as a good lightly distorted clean sound.... I love the '59 I have in the neck of the other LP.... very smooth, will probably go with another '59 in the neck.. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BRIDGE P/U?
I have some knowledge, as I hiave rewired all the guitars I have ever owned since I started playing, but the more I read here, the more questions I have..... I learned that A2's have a smoother top end....., but I know I love the A5 in the '59 neck.... Peavey Valave King thru an old Marshall 4x12 cab/greenbacks. Remember, a Bonamassa or Gary Moore tone would be nice... Thanks

If there aren't budget restraints, the Custom Shop offers a Bonamassa set and a Peter Green set (Gary Moore acquired Green's old LP and is the one I see him playing most in videos)

Otherwise, anything in the PAF range will be a step in the right direction. Antiquities or Seths would probably satisfy your needs.

I've had both Seth Lovers and BKP Mules in my Les Paul and both will definitely get you in the Gary Moore ballpark with the right amp.

Custom Custom ? '59/Custom ? Seths ? I heard that the JB has too much highs... something I definately don't want. I want that PAF tone, but with a little more ooomph.. Round highs, open sound, good low end and upper mids.

BTW, there are restrictions on what I can spend. Would love to get Bonamassa set, but that cant happen.

I can get a pretty good approximation of Gary Moore's tone with my Slash Sig set and a good JCM800 type of amp. Go high, not dimed, on the EQ and set the gain to around 12-1:00, Master up high, and boost with a TS type OD. Should get you there.

PAF's are magic in an LP, Seth's are one of the best, try one in the bridge slot.

There's a lot of good Duncans that will get you there, but the biggest component is the amp. Bonamassa uses a Jubilee and Moore usually got his live sound out of DSL's. So basically, the amp sound is a fat highgain Marshall tone.

After that, the Seths, Ants, 59's, C/59, C5, etc. Most will give you a nice LP tone. Those two guitar players would have had no problem using any of those and sounding like themselves.

If the guitar is as bright as you say it is, the one solution that'll get you in the ballpark of the tones you're asking for, is an A2 modded '59 set, preferably covered. The rest will be fine-tuning the EQ and the right amount of gain.

Definately NOT for the bedroom player! ;)
