Hey gang!
So after having them for about a month now, I'm comfortable saying that the '54 Sparkle set, from Bootstrap Pickups, are the strat tone I've always had in my head
When I think of a chimey, jangly strat neck pickup, and that hollowed out 2 and 4 position, this is the tone I'm thinking of
They've replaced a pair of SSL-1s that I had, which were quite fine in themselves, but just didn't have the extra sparkle that these do
Another trick that I love about them is that, since they're alnico 3 and wound to only about 5.6k, when I flip the neck and middle into series, they actually give a pretty solid neck humbucker tone to match the bridge humbucker in the HSS strat I put them in
Anyway, bootstrap is a small builder that – I think – is quite literally based out of a guy's garage, so they don't get much hype. BUT, they should!
