Re: Booty is in the Eye of the Beholder
I've listened to several of your posted tracks, and I have to say you have come a long way. It seems you've improved your legato playing, it makes your single note lines sound much more musical. More violin like.
Also it seems your sense of musicality is improving, or maybe it's just that you are becoming more accomplished with your instrument and what you hear in your head is finding a clearer path out.
In either case, I really liked your solo, the fact that you didn't cram a billion notes in where they really didn't belong was wonderful. The use of negative space, and melodic interest was really great.
If I may be so bold as to make one suggestion, and trust me this is just nit picking here....And please take this suggestion from a washed up geezer with a grain of salt.
Spend a bit more time playing to the metronome. I sensed a few times where the backing track and your solo playing weren't 100% in sync. Of all the countless hours of practice, and hundreds of lessons taken, the most valuable tip given to me was to practice with a metronome. I mean, it's cool if you know all the chords, scales, and can shred circles around Vai, but if you can't keep time who will want you as part of their ensemble.
Over all, an excellent effort, you are really becoming a talented young musician.
