Bose 1800

Can anyone place an approximate value on an older Bose 1800 amplifier? 2 channel. 250 watts per channel @ 8 ohms. 4 ohm minimum load. Looks rough but works perfectly. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Bose 1800

They were designed for home stereo, and should be fine in that application.

It may or may not be fine for live sound. Reliability can be an issue for many of these high power audiophile amps. Phase Linear was a popular brand back in the day and many bands used them for PA and bass amps.

But....Hartley Peavey built his company on producing the CS Series of power amp. They might not have the specs of the boutique amps, but they were BULLETPROOF and incredibly reliable. You could expect to pay about $225--275 for a late-model CS-800X.

So it just depends on your application.

Good luck.
