Boss 65 Fender Deluxe....

Anyone used the Boss 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb pedal at all? I stopped by Guitar Center in Nashville while I was there and tried one out. I was very impressed, but I was in gear mode at the time, so I'm sure I was a little zealous. lol

Any opinions on it?

I don't really understand what it's supposed to do ... a pedal that sounds like an amp. What happens if you put it in front of a high gain half-stack?

Seriously, what did you have it plugged into, and what did you think?

Well, it does just that. If you put it in front of a good clean channel it sounds like a 65' Deluxe Reverb. Kind of a poor man's deluxe I guess. I played it through a hot rod amp. Sounded pretty good. I think what I liked the most though was the Vibrato. I'm still undecided about it though....

As for putting it in front of high gain......that's NOT what it is meant to be used for.

I haven't tried them, but you should also check out the new analog amp-simulating boxes from Tech 21. Guitar Player reviewed them this past month. There's no Tech 21 vs. Boss shoot out, but the Tech 21 reviews were better than what I remember Boss got a while back.

I've tried it, and the Bassman pedal too. They sounded good to me. I wasn't expecting the amp it was run though (Peavey Special 30 or something along those lines) but it did add some DR flavor to the sound, which is what it's supposed to do. Same with the Bassman, just add the flavor. However, take that Bassman and crank the level up on it and it sounds like an old Marshall. Very cool. They are both meant to be used through a clean amp.

Those Tech 21 pedals look interesting. I want to try them out, especially the British one.

I really want the marshall based sans amp pedal...maybe the ac30 one too...

for putting in front of my galaxie ten set clean and even.

There are two Tech 21 british-voiced pedals, Marshall and Vox. GP really liked the Voxy one, but gave overall favorable reviews to all four of the new boxes.

Well, yeah...lol, but one is named "British". The Vox one is named "Liverpool". Honestly, I could have a sweet backup rig going with both of those.
