I had one. While the recorder as a whole kicks butt the presets are just OK. You need an EE degree to operate the drum machine so be prepared for that. I hear that there is a video that is really helpful with operating the unit. I never had it I just used the manual but I never got really deep into what it could do.
One thing that I really liked was being able to slap on some headphones and go at it all hours of the night. Oh, and Boss cheaped out and didn't include the power supply, just batteries, so be prepared to by a Boss 9V power adapter.
