I have one and I just need to know if its natural that it drains batteries so fast?? I have a Boss noise supressor and tuner and a Crybaby and I RARELY have to swap batteries but the Delay just eats em up?? and I'm not even leaving it on all the time when I'm playing just a few parts here and there nor am I leaving it plugged in. . . . whats the deal, anyone elses do this??

Re: Boss DD-3????

How often does your battery last in terms of time plugged in (i.e. a cord plugged into the input jack)?

Re: Boss DD-3????

I have one and it eats batteries too. I just make sure i unplug it when I'm done. Here lately I've just not been using it, cause I always forget to buy some batteries.

Re: Boss DD-3????

Okay at least I'm not the only one. I've never tested how long the battery lsats with leaving plugged in . . . . how long is normal??

Re: Boss DD-3????

I dont know how long, but ive played at night then went to bed got up and noticed it was still plugged in and its out of juice. so id think a few hours and its gone. i have wal warts for my wah and twin tube, so maybe investing in a power supply for your delay might be a good investment. I just bought a bad monkey the other day and the batteries in it seem to last forever compared to my dd-3.

Re: Boss DD-3????

I used to own one too and I found the batteries lasted waaay too little. Like Skyking, I once left it plugged in overnight by accident, and that sucked. I suppose the best thing is just to get an AC adaptor.

It's funny, a lot of people say wahs suck the batteries like crazy... but I haven't replaced the battery in my Cry Baby From Hell since I got last year and I step on it all the time.

Re: Boss DD-3????

For sure, get a power supply, because some of those Boss pedals just eat batteries like CookieMonster scarfs down cookies. I got a OneSpot and never looked back...

Re: Boss DD-3????

Yeah, I bought a DD6 on Labor Day. I tried it in the store for about an hour. I played it at home for about the same amount of time, and two church services, including warm-up, for about 1 1/2 hours each time. It died in the middle of the second service.:(

My Dynacomp, OTOH, lasts FOREVER. I hope the Phase 90 will do the same.

I guess I should look into a power supply again. I used to power pedals with Radio Shack power supply and several Ibanez Y-cables.

Re: Boss DD-3????

I think a DD-3 will do a maximum of about 8 hours on a good quality battery. That's 8 hours with a plug in the input, not 8 hours of the delay being switched on. I have a DD-3 and I use a power supply!

Re: Boss DD-3????

With Boss delays and reverbs, an adapter is necessary. Those units use a lot of battery power in order to do what they do and sound good.

Re: Boss DD-3????

Sorry to hijack but I own a Danelectro Fish & Chips graphic eq. Have any of you noticed if a 9v in an eq pedal will last fairly long?

Re: Boss DD-3????

I use batteries for two things:

1) Backups in my pedalboard in case the main AC goes down (most pedals will not drain the battery if there's something connected to the power socket).

2) Recording with just one or two pedals so I can switch 'em out fast and won't get extra line noise.

Re: Boss DD-3????

Anything digital will take batteries and make them its b!tch.

My buddy has a DD-6. He'd steal a battery from Sears, bring it home, jam with us for 2 or 3 hours. Next day the battery would be dead, and he didnt leave it plugged in all night. Tried this with multiple batteries too.

Re: Boss DD-3????

I have one and I don't use it without an AC adapter. I think that they're rated 200mA, which is quite a bit compared to other Boss pedals.

Re: Boss DD-3????

I have always seen Delays from Boss suck batteries dry. being sucked dry in this case is NOT a good thing.

Auto Wah's can also do the same thing, esp the DOD Synth Wah, which has a really cool pimped out sound!
