Edit: now with Strat and P90 clips!

Sound clip with Stratocaster!
Sound clip with P90s in a PRS!

Hi all! I just got this Boss DS-1 with the Monte Allums Rectifier Mod from our good friend Rich S. (good trader!) and decided to put it through its paces for you to hear basically what it sounds like.

I am playing a Stratocaster with a Little 59 neck in the bridge, through a VOX Valvetronix on the Fender Blackface 2x12 model. Very low gain and very boring EQ. I am using the VOX amp's on-board compression, and tons of it. Close mic'd with an ElectroVoice ND267 (dynamic) 20 to 30 degrees off axis, 50% from center to surround.

It's very apparent when the DS-1 is on or off, enjoy!

Updated with another clip: a PRS Singlecut with P90 pickups

You can hear how it responds differently and a little more predictably with higher output pickups

I found it to be a lot of fun when driven hard with another box, like an SD-1. Enjoy it.

I had the Tone at 9 o'clock, the level at noon, and the distortion turned all the way down.

I am not really sure when I will have the need to have the distortion anywhere above 0, since distortion doesn't record well, and my current gig doesn't really ever call for distortion.

I can see it in a solo, but the distortion is too extreme for rhythm playing.

It is a lot of fun to play with, that's for sure!

I may even make a few metal / alt recordings with this new tool
