Boss FZ-5

Re: Boss FZ-5

never seen it. the boss fuzzes never did much for me in the past but who knows it might rawk!

Re: Boss FZ-5

They have taken out the germainum transistors and replaced them with modelling crud. A modelling fuzz? That kinda defeats the object of the thing. Didn't care for it.

Re: Boss FZ-5

Depending on if the band I'm talking to works out (doesnt look like it will), I might be required to pick up a boss fuzz for the gig.... but if I was, it'd be an FZ-2 or FZ-3. +1 on the modeling raping all quality to the fuzz.

Be sure to try the FZ-3 before buying. (unless you know it) It's one odd beast.
It likes Root and fifth ONLY. It hates chords?! But, beyond that limitations, it fooookin rawks, like, so hard...

I've found the root/fifth thing to be true of most fuzzes, and most other high gain devices for that matter.

Re: Boss FZ-5

I still haven't tried the FZ-5. The FZ-3 is a little harsher than a Muff, but the FZ-2 barely plays root/5 and octave diads. But for single-note lines the FZ-2 is awesome.
