I know, but at first you spoke about getting a MIDI-pedal. Which leaves me under the impression your amp is MIDI-switchable? Because if it is, you don't need the amp switching jack, all you'd need to do is hook up a MIDI-cable from the MIDI out of the GT-8 to the MIDI in on your JSX. I don't know the JSX myself, so I have no idea if it is MIDI-switchable?
oh.. there is no MIDI in on my JSX.. i always figured you'd just hook the MIDI cable from the effects proccessor into a MIDI pedal and it'd work.. amd i wrong?

MIDI requires quite a lot of tweaking. You need to assign commands to each footswitch or pedal on the MIDI-switcher, and assign corresponding actions on the effects processor you're hooking up to it.
In this case, you wanted to use MIDI to switch channels on your amp, right? For example, let's take my H&K Triamp (a six-channel tube amp). It has an MSM-1 MIDI-module installed, with a couple of dipswitches on the back. With these dipswitches, you can set up different sequences. Each sequence can be coupled to a specific setting of the amp with the 'MIDI learn'-button on the front panel of the amp. Now, on a MIDI-pedal (or for instance my Boss GT-8), you need to set up corresponding commands for the pedal to enable it to communicate with the amp at all. So it's no matter of 'plug & play' here. On the other hand, this makes the switching options MIDI gives you highly customizeable, so this does have its advantages.
I tried the amp control and with a normal jack it did the change of channel of my 2 channel Ampeg .
And the excellent thing with the GT8 is the loop witch allow you , with the four cable method , to put some fx before the preamp , and others after .
And you can still use all the preamp models witch will be powered by the power section of your amp .
Endlend possibilities but a lot of tweakin' !
Be ready to study the beast !
