Boss OD3

Re: Boss OD3

IMO, the best OD Boss ever made. Better Than SD-1 on a clean channel. Better than the DS-1... but you'll probably hear 10 different opinions in the next 15 minutes :)

Re: Boss OD3

But I must add that this is no simple question to answer because this depends a lot about the amp you use.

Re: Boss OD3

I had a Blues Jr and the SD-1 was too bright with it., The OD3 is fatter and more balanced. Very transparent, no mid-bump like the TS. Although I currently use a Bad Monkey I like a lot (better than any Ibanez TS). If you can get one used, give it a shot, I'd be surpised if you didn't like it. It gets amazing reviews, yet noone talks about it. It's always SD-1 or DS-1. Go figure.

I have a Bad Monkey and it is servicable....is the OD3 any more open sounding?

Yes, to me it's more balanced, no mid spike, so a little more open, transparent. As if it only added gain to your sound, and very little color. I'd like to try one with my actual setting. I'm currently gasing for various OD pedals.

I have to warn you though that I use HB exclusively... so I can't really speak for its tone with SC. That is a major factor of the equation.

I play singles myself..I guess a trip to the local music store is in order.

Joe, dont pay any attention to Sly, he doesnt even know what he likes yet;)
Is the CB not working out or are you just looking for another flavor?

Garrett, the CB is perfect for my marshall-type tone. :smokin: I am looking for something Fendery to work transparently with my junior...less gainy and very natural.
