I currently, use Boss effect pedals, and was wondering if there was a certain order they recommend using your pedals in?

so the discussion is.....using as many of the boss pedals as you can,(you can throw in a wah wah too even tho they don't make one) what order do you use them in starting at the guitar?

Re: Boss pedal order

generally speaking, wah -> od/distortion -> modulation -> time based effects

While this is true . . . many people like to change things up from the norm. For example, distortion into wah . . . delay into a distorted amp, phasing pre-distortion, etc. Best way to answer this question is to play with your pedals until you find something that sounds cool to you.

this is absolutely true. the set up i gave was the "conventional wisdom" on how to set up a pedal chain, there is no right or wrong. any way you set it up will work and create sound. It's up to you to figure out which way you like the best.

Re: Boss pedal order

BOSS does make wah pedals. They are simply less popular than some other brands.

I have, and run in this order... ds-1 distortion, bf-3 flanger, the ph-3 phase shifter, the ch-1 super chorus,te-2 Tera echo, dd-3 digital delay, and then through a digitech rp150 I use mainly for reverb, and noise gate

Re: Boss pedal order

The order you have is fine. With pedals like that, you can experiment with the order quite a bit. When I have multiple similar pedals lined up, I like to alternate them to take more advantage of the variety.
This is how I would do it, but there are numerous possibilities:
phaser > DS-1 > Tera > flanger > DD-3 > chorus > RP150
I really like to put my chorus right between delay and reverb, and I like to sandwich my distortion between flanger and phaser. There's really no right or wrong here.
