BOSS RC-20XL Loop Station...any good?

What are your thoughts about this pedal? I recently posted about loopers and the new Ditto pedal came up which looked kinda cool at a reasonable price. Now that it's actually available it is worth checking into.

But what about this BOSS unit? Have any of you had experience with it? What can you tell me about it? How does it stack up to other similar units?

I believe Boss came out with a newer version, the RC-30, Is there a significant difference? I can get the RC-20xl for $130 (used of course). Is that a good deal?

I haven't used the newer version, so I can't say much about it. It looks pretty cool, though.

I got my 20XL for $175, so $130 would be a hell of a steal. I would jump on it!

You have to decide how you want to use loops. If saving loops is important, both the Digitech & Boss will allow that. If you just want to record quick ideas to jam over, the Ditto (or better, a used Flashback delay- it can use a battery, plus you get a great delay pedal) will work. If you want a looper for serious improvisation, the Boomerang or the Pigtronix Infinity are the current ones to get.
