As long as we're taking this thread and running away with it, I just plunked Christian's SD-1 on my board next to my Keeley Ultra DS-1. They are definitely different. The SD-1 is about mids and (at least Keeley's) DS-1 is more about lows and highs. You can hear that TS mid-hump thing in the SD-1 but it's a bit nastier that a TS, probably due to the asymmetrical clipping diodes.
It's worth having both a DS-1 and an SD-1 around, but if you have some other TS-style pedal maybe the SD is redundant. On the other hand, I LIKE the SD-1 and I never got on with the TS - they're similar, but different.

Well, the SD1 can be cleaner, and used to boost the front of a tube amp. With the OD turned up, it is close to a distortion pedal but the SD1 is IMHO more focused sounding than the DS1. OTOH, with the wrong setup it can sound boxy. You can get a decent idea based on these clips (threw these together last night as I'd just put in a new pickup) - the Distortion+ is very similar in sound to the DS1, the SD1 had the OD level all the way up.

I believe there's a mod for the SD-1 that turn it into a Fulltone Fulldrive or something of the sort. Some sort of highly prized OD.
