Last night I picked up a 150 W Line 6 Flextone III 2x12. It has 32 different amp models and 12 speaker cabinet models 14 or so effects and endless tweaking capabilities.

It's way more than I need in the way of versatility but it has tons of power and can model my Dual Recto fairly well, using the triple recto and Marshall 4x12 cabinet model oddly enough. I thought about finding a used single recto combo on ebay but after trying one out it just wasn't gonna give me the sound I was looking for. Normally I would just use my Dual Recto but it's a pain to lug around and I was looking for something I can either move around more easily or just leave at my friends house, no way I'm doing that with my Dual.

It's got some lucious clean tones and I managed to dial in exactly what I wanted. The same goes for my dirty channel. I'm kinda pumped as I wasn't expecting to find this quality or satisfaction with a solid state amp. I tried a Vox hybrid amp but it didn't have near enough low end. The Flextone has more than enough on all ends of the spectrum, so far.

Congradulations! I've got a Vetta and I love it. That's a great amp and you should have lotsa fun with it. One thing you may notice with the Line 6 amps is that used in a band setting, you may have to use more presence and/or middle to cut through. Not everyone has this problem, but a lot do. Have fun and play it loud.

Re: Bought a new amp

Thanks man. I'm pretty pumped as I have been leery of Line 6 stuff up till now but I am quite pleased with this amp.

I usually scoop hard core anyway but when recording I drop the bass back a bit to cut through.

I'm hoping the love lasts a bit longer than the honeymoon period. Again I need it for portability for practices and stuff so it should be good enough. But I'm rather picky and if it didn't come real close to my Dual I would be endlessly obsessing over the sound and fiddling with the settings. I was able to dial up a usable tone pretty easily.

I was considering a Spider III along side this but this one is endlessly more tweakable.

Re: Bought a new amp

Ive never had any luck with any Line 6 amps Ive played. Ive tried a bunch of them out in shops and they all seem to have been broken(lots of feedback). When I was jamming with a buddy through is little line 6 combo the sound kept cutting out. I also hate the fact for a foot switch you need to buy the $3000 line 6 board.

I haven't had much luck up until now with Line 6 amps either. Either through sound or one time I had a Flextone HD and 4x12 cab and the cab vibrated when I would hit certain notes.

The lack of a foot controller of some form annoys me to no end. Now they have a pretty decent solution that is sorta reasonable. It's and FBV Express. 4 buttone, volume/wah and a tuner. Pretty useful, only $100.

All in all I'm impressed. Tomorrow night it will be put through the paces at practice.

Re: Bought a new amp

The last guitar store i went into (Bills Music in Catonsville MD, the largest in the state), i played one of those amps with a Fender 72 deluxe tele. I was blown away, loved the sound. The Soldano model was awsome, with some delay, my friends had to beg me to let off it so we could leave.

now im GAS'in for a Flextone and a '72 Tele.
