I would NEVER swap a neck for another just because of a sanded headstock unless I was unhappy with it already. The neck is half the guitar and when you swap it out, you literally swap out half your guitar for another one.
If you truly like that guitar the way it is, leave it be, touch up the headstock if you'd like, even veneer it but leave it there.

I've had people complain that even removing and reattaching the SAME neck on their bolt-ons changed its' sound/feel, granted, in order for sth like this to happen you'd need to mess up sth pretty badly but still...

i will most likely replace the neck at some point or keep it. i dont care what it is really, i love this guitar.

If you're about to chuck that guitar in the bin, I'd gladly take the burden off your hands.

But really it's just like what Keeperos said. You can't just replace a neck on a guitar like that with a random one and expect the guitar's tone to improve. The neck and the body need to be matched.

That's a real beauty. I can imagine how nice it must have looked with the original matching headstock laminate. Will be tough to match again, so I'd go for black laminate replacement w/White logo (by a pro, unless you are very skilled).

Excuse me for repeating myself, but I don't think this headstock ever had a laminate. It looks as if it were just painted. What we agree upon, is that the guitar deserves a proper restoration.

that is not it, and i cant read german either. the body is san dimas, the necks japson. its no biggy. i probably wont get a different neck. i am however putting a seymour demartini bridge pup in it and 2 cool rails.

just a pic of my rig, and the jackson all tuned up and ran through my practice rig. decided to do some late fri surfin. figured alot of you prolly wondered what i play through. heres my entire rig, not hooked up of course. lol too lazy. the crazy covers are amp covers mom made for me. lol
