Bought a used Woody SA-3XL, no sound

Hey guys,

today my Woody SA-3XL arrived. It's a used one but it looks brand new.

After installing it very quick in my acoustic guitar I wanted to play through my Marshall MG30 just for the kicks. Althought I turned the amp amp full force I couldn't get a sound out of it. Also, when going straight into my Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 almost nothing arrives in Reaper, my main DAW. The sound is very very quiet and if I turn the recorded stuff via clip gain I got some wimpy sound and a lot of noise.

I just checked the pickup with my meter, Ohm @20k and get a reading of 1.82

Is the pup broken?

I'm using phosphor bronze strings on my acoustic guitar. Could it be that this is the reason why I can't get no sound?

you should still get sound. i dont know much about the internals on the woodys but i know they sound decent when working right. sounds like it might have issues. if you tap on the pup with a screw driver does it give a loud click or pop thru the amp?

That could be a resistive short in the cable plug. Is it possible to take it off and check it?

Thanks Jeremy! I don't know if it is loud enough but yes, there is a noticable pop/click. That's the strange thing.

Maybe but to be honest, I don't want to tinker with the pup. I'll try it on another guitar which does not have phosphor strings. If it doesn't work out then, I'll send it back to the seller. I contacted him already.

unless you are going to use white bronze or zebra strings, the strings shouldnt make that much difference. i kinda doubt thats the problem
