Yeah it was wound by the legend Maricella Juarez, as indicated by the 'J' initial; likely in the 80s.

Really? Cool ! Didnt know the pickup can survive this long... i sort of replaced the kiesel lithiums bridge to this... and it grew larger fatter and more grind ! The lithiums in my opinion is too weak and sterile...hope this pickup can serve longer than it expected to...

1950s PAF pickups are still going strong so unless they are abused those JB's should serve you well for a long time.

Alnico pickups do "age" over time,,,,,,,but I think it's mostly regarded as a good thing.
I'm not really sure what it does to the tone.

Congrats!

I picked up a JB and a Jazz wound by MJ a couple years ago. Been saving them for the right guitar, haven't found one that seems fitting yet.

And no, the amplifier I sat them on to take the pic wasn't even plugged in, so no danger of degaussing the magnets.

Wow nice one ! I searched thru ebay and price seems to creep up...

In anyway is there a duncan where has qualities of JB but more huge and thicker ? I heard the 59/hybrid is a good contender <JB ?

Wow, I just took a peek. You ain't kidding! IIRC, I got both of those for $90. I guess sometimes a guy lucks out........

And as far as your question goes, I've heard that the RTM (the custom shop Warren Demartini signature pickup) is like a beefed up JB.

A Custom/JB Hybrid would rock... possibly with the thick magnet from a Distortion...

Well, the Hybrid doesn't have the output of a JB and is voiced more like a traditional PAF- scooped, but not terribly so. I don't translate that to 'huge' and 'thicker' but I do like the sound better than a JB. To me, 'huge' and 'thicker' would be the Invader.
