Bought it, but it depreciated so much I'd rather keep it.

I paid something like 2 grand for the Apogee Ensemble when it first came out and now I think they go for around less than $1000 used. I guess folks don't really care too much for Firewire anymore with USB 3 and Thunderbolt devices becoming more prevalent.

I avoid stuff like that. Almost all of my gear is stuff that people will still want in 20 years - old Fenders, GE fuzzes... this stuff is always in demand.

Alesis ADAT. Awesome A/D converters, pushbutton simplicity, 8-track simultaneous 48KHz recording. Can't give it away today.

I got pretty lucky with mine. I bought a used M20 ADAT from a studio that was unloading theirs for $150 or something stupid like that in early 2007. It sounded great, and I used it to record the group I was with at the time. I ended up selling it for around $400 in the fall of 2008 after switching from PC to Mac in my studio.

On the unlucky side, I bought an 1977 LP Custom for about $1500 in the summer of 2002. I don't remember if it was that winter or into 2003, but I had to sell it to help pay for food / rent. I was a semi-broke college student and in hindsight I never should've bought it, but you know what they say about hindsight. I ended up getting $1250 for it which wasn't too bad at the time, but if I'd held onto it for another couple years, I could've had at least $2K.

Similar story I picked up a Charvel 25th Anniversary Strat for $795 in the fall of 2004. Unloaded it about a year later for $1250 and was pretty happy until I realized I could've had closer to $2K. :smack:

I cant name any one thing. But nearly all of my guitars. I need to sell a bunch and the market is so bad, Im taking a bath selling them.

Marshall cabs. Somehow I get them through trade... this is my third one within a year. There are TONS on CL right now selling for dirt cheap($2-$300), so I really dont see the point.

Decided to fix it up, take the tolex off and stain it ala Emperor and throw on the grill cloth I've had sitting here for a while. Should be a fun project

George Lynch F baritone. I paid $800, took $350 in a trade.

Shouldn't have bought it in the first place.

NeXT. SPARCStation 2. An 8-core build in 2005.

Everything ever ordered on Stewmac, along with most bodies and necks ordered anywhere.

ETA: Anything Hamer, in particular the important stuff errr I mean the import stuff.

I'm beginning to think my Randall rg75. Not a bad amp but geeze people are giving these things away used. Probably going to sell mine since I picked up another Marshall, and I don't really have much bad to say about it. Tough part is I will have to price low to match other sales! Just sucks to sell a super solidly built amp (wish my valvestate had its pots) with a decent clean channel, verb, effects loop, ext cab out, and line out for the price of most decent pedals out right now.

I was all excited when I picked it up as a floor model cheap though.

Any of you guys heard of ART Xtreme effects?

I still have it ... probably worth $50
Sitting in my drawer since I switched to dirt pedals

My Peavey Transfex Pro 212. It was an awesome amp (crazy loud!) and does so many sounds. The effects on it are actually pretty good. I bought it probably 10+ years ago for ~1k. This was when tube emulation were just getting popular, and this was a good one (IMO). Gigged with it for a few years and it stayed super reliable, never had one problem, except now it just needs a new battery. Don't think its worth much now, so I guess I'll just keep it!

I hear 'ya on that. I think I got something like $1500 for my Bogner Shiva half stack that I think I probably shelled out $2500 for years ago....ouch...

Re: Bought it, but it depreciated so much I'd rather keep it.

I bought a Tascam tape based 4-track. Cost probably about 7-800 Aus$ back in the early 90's. Still have it....maybe still works, but no-one will pay anything for it.

Re: Bought it, but it depreciated so much I'd rather keep it.

The only thing I can think of is the Tascma GT1 CD player, paid over £100 for it and now you pick them up for pennies.
