Boutique pedals...

Re: Boutique pedals...

oh really?

Wow...Used to own one actually. hahah. but I never even tried it as a stand alone pedal, always as a boost....it was given to me and I did not give it an honest try. Sold it before I even got used to it. That was a year or two ago, I dont even remember how it sounds really.

Yup. It's a very versatile pedal, and somewhat underrated (although people more and more are beginning to discover its utility). I will tell you that the only kind I've tried is my own pedal, which has Analog Man's "Super" mod, but I can't imagine the stock version being incredibly different.

Don't get me wrong: Boutique pedals are great, and I certainly own my share, but there's a good number of so-called bottom- and middle-shelf pedals that are quite useful.

If you want to talk strictly boutique, I'm happy to do that as well. Just don't discount some of the mass market stuff -- not that you are...just a general caution. If I'm not mistaken, Prince plays almost all Boss pedals, and quite a number of guitarists on this forum regard his playing and tone quite highly, myself included.

Was I on a soapbox just then? :)

Re: Boutique pedals...

AnalogMan KingOfTone was designed to do what you want--I just got mine after 2 years, 1 month, 11 days on the wait list: it was worth the wait.

Re: Boutique pedals...

Low gain stuff... Barber LTD.

The Silver is is more faithful to the original tone than the black one.

There is a new LTD S.R for Special Recipe. Give those a shot.

Barber are the lower cost boutique pedals. But by no means at all are they lacking in tonal quality.
