recommend me a bridge humbucker! I’m in the process of creating something… 3 humbuckers, ash body, chopped Tele bridge. 3 volume, 1 master tone. Need recommendation for a bridge F spaced humbucker. Middle and neck pickups will either be

middle: OX4
neck: OX4

OR

middle: OX4
neck: Pearly Gates

Bridge: ???? was thinking 78 or Brobucker but not sure. I usually prefer Alnico V or II bridge pickups for a chewier lead tone. For reference, my favorite bridge pickups are a Florance Voodoo PAF, or a Rolph 59 Pretender.

What kind of music will you be using this for? And what kind of tone do you use (clean, distorted, metal)?

For a good clean tone, I wouldn't go too high of an output. Possibly a 59/Custom Hybrid or Pearly Gates.

Hmmm. I tried the Pearly set in my Les Paul. While I loved the neck pickup, the bridge felt kinda limp. I’m looking for something that can get a little thick but still articulate when overdriven. The trick is that the guitar is ash with a Tele 3 barrel bridge, so I’m concerned it’s going to be a bright guitar.

On the slightly darker side of things, check out the Alnico II Pro or Custom Custom.

i think a brobucker would be sweet in that guitar! im curious to try a hades gates, supposedly a hotter pearly, but i dont have a guitar to put one in at the moment.

Not a lot of info on the Brobucker or Hades Gates. I’m also curious about the Hades, but I thought I needed a little more juice than that. Ordered a 59 Custom Hybrid, which I hear splits really well. I may decide not to split but at least I’d have the option.

Duncan 59b will be good as a middle pickup for rock. It will be full and thick with gain, due to being in middle position. If you want more a distinct notch position tone that is brighter, you could consider the 59n, ie. neck version in middle position.
