Sorry ! Another pick recommendation...
I bought this Aria Pro II PE-R60 and + another Matsumoku (Westone Concord III) due to a small accident : the french tax administration have lost my income tax check...
But the they found out and send me a letter which is why I only bought a neck PU and wait december for the bridge pickup.
Actually it is good they lost the check because I like the LP-like PE and the Strat-like Concord.
So here's the question. I already installed a SD '59 on the neck of the PE and was very pleased by the result. It is close to the Les Paul sounds you hear on YouTube (I do not own any LP, just Strat, Tele, SG). More info on the guitar : It is very heavy (not for holiday) : thick mahogany body, carved maple top (several pieces for both), mahogany neck, brass bridge, bone nut (pic below with the neck SH-1 freshly installed).
On this guitar there are stock toggles for splitting pickups as on many early 80s Aria Pro II models.
Unlike the PE R-80 it does not have a additional carved maple bottom behind the mahogany body and no cloud inlays ripped off BC Rich.
So my original planning was Pearly Gates for the bridge to match the '59 neck... But after reading this forum i switched to the Custom... But now I think I want the '59 Custom Hybrid zebra. And a fourth option could be the Pegasus.
Now I know that the '59 Hybrid is reponsive the pick attack (Mincer) and that you cannot go wrong with a Custom on a LP (Jeff_H with the beautiful avatar), but considering my style what would you recommand for my entry in the LP family world ?
I may play various things from King Crimson meets Voivod meets Melt-Banana meets Black Sabbath endless improvisations, dark space rock, fast tremolo picking like Black Metal (but I started this in the 80 at that time we called it hardcore) but also a merge of traditional / modal blues and indian music + a slide project + a few violin concertos on guitar.
My fave tone ever is David Gilmour (especially on "Dogs"). But I am not at all in tone nailing.
