Bridge humbucker for blues rock - not too compressed

Re: Bridge humbucker for blues rock - not too compressed

For what it's worth, mid-late last year I ordered 'the kitchen sink' (two of everything) directly through AFX web site using PayPal and everything came in, reasonably quick shipping, well-packed, everything complete in order, no back orders, no mistakes.

It does seem that back around #48, someone was asking for options OTHER than AFX.

Humbucker bar magnets can also be found at Tone Kraft and StewMac and Adams Magnetic and AZ Industries and ThroBak has magnets at a premium that might come in pretty handy for anyone looking for a specific tone from back in the day and probably many other providers.

What they do with whatever place they decide on is up to them.

Please tell me more about the custom custom. I had assumed this was an overwound pickup, almost as powerful as the JB. How does it compare to the JB and something more Aknico ii PAF like a Pearly Gates (picking two pickups i own).

Thanks so much

Did you go with a WLH? or something else?
I do really like the WLH but found the 59/custom hybrid to be more versatile.
those two are really good for what you described.
The Custom-custom is nice but is more compressed than those two and will not clean up as good as them.
The JB is the most compressed and highest output .cleans are OK but not great.
The CC has a better clean IMHO and the PG is even better for cleans and not compressed like a JB.

Yeah, the Hybrid is way more open than the CC, but those are my 2 favorite humbuckers. I match them to the tone of the guitar. If the wood sounds thin, it gets a CC. If it is tubby, it gets a Hybrid, or in one extreme example, a C5.
