Bridge humbucker to pair with A5 neck HB, 7.7 K

Hi there,

Guitar is a (cheap) Vintage V100, AFD, which on itself is nice enough.

the bridge is now a 8.3K A2 humbucker, and to be frank is much too bright and thin, and difficult to EQ an amp for for both pickups.

They are not Seymours, but from a firm in Germany. The neck on itself is more than fine.

In another Lester I have the SH2 and SH5, which combo's well, but trying to get away from Ceramic magnets and the output @ 14k

So anyone have any experience with an A4 like the Saturday night special. @ 9.75 , will it pair wel with an A5 ?

the sns is a good pup and will have more juice than the 8.3k a2 bucker. it should pair up fine spec wise, but hard to say for sure since i havent heard the neck pup

I bought and installed a SNS in de bridge. Def more balance in volume and tone with the Neck PUP, so nice enough.

However: the SD is 4 wire, installed as 2-wire, so red-white together and green and bare wire together to ground and black to pot.

However: In the middle positition the volume drops significantly, def more than with the previous Bridge pickup (which is of the same builder as the Neck).
Could there be a phase-issue , because of different builders and different winding methods ? And can this be solved

they could very much be out of phase. if you flip just the black and green wires on the bridge pup, that will flip its phase relative to the neck pup
