Bridge parts question...

In an experiment to help resolve some grounding issues with my guitars, I'm goinfg to replace the tremolo claws on both my Strats. There's practically a small gumball of solder on there and it occured to me this may be the source of my grounding problems i was talking about earlier...

I'm planning on buying the Callaham Trem Claw part shown page here:

Is this part interchangeable with both an MIM strat with a regular trem and an MIA with a Floyd?

Re: Bridge parts question...

BTW, out of curiosity... do these base plates they sell... (heres a pic)

...do they REALLY "boost the lows and the mid range frequencies giving a fatter wider sound" ? Anyone tried 'em?

I believe such a base plate is the secret to the SD Twangbanger's sound, as well as most traditional Tele bridge pickups.

Re: Bridge parts question...

I know that Lindy Fralin offers this mod too. I don't think he'ld do it if it wasn't legit. I believe this is all a matter of tuning the inductance and magnetic field of the pup. Any of those types of changes will affect the sound. Probably by attenuating the highs.

I wasn't really looking to attenuate highs, jut boost lows although for the sound I'm looking for GJ sez I'll probably have to wait until the new Duncan noiseless SC's come out.

So um about that trem claw... will it work for both guitars?

Re: Bridge parts question...

Fine then I'll assume that it does... I just gotta email and make sure the holes are big enough for the screws to fit through. ;)
