Bridge pickup for LPC with SD Jazz in neck

80s Greco Les Paul Custom. Currently have the Jazz in the neck and Custom 5 in the bridge. Was doing some searching and found someone saying the 59/Custom Hybrid was one of their favorite SD pickups. I never really liked the JB in LPs I've tried in the past. I had a JB in a LP years ago and it wasn't my thing or it wasn't then.

I have a baritone (27'' scale) guitar with an Alt 8 in the bridge. It is brutal for metal but I'm not sure if I'll keep it in the bari. I considered trying it in the LPC but after initial sound sample listening on the SD site, I prefer the 59 Hybrid to the Alt 8 in clips I heard.

If you do switch it out, let us know how it goes. I love the Hybrid, but I've never used it in a longer scale instrument. I can't imagine it wouldn't be wonderful.

I read the title to your thread and was just about to demand that you pair a 59/C with it. And if you do more searching, just about everyone who has tried one says it's one of their favorite pickups.

The new pickup in question won’t be going into the baritone. I brought up the baritone cause I have an Alt 8 in it and was thinking of putting the Alt 8 in the LPC but it looks like the 59/CH is the way to go.

Doesn’t sound balanced with the Jazz. After hearing clips the 59 sounded more like what I want.

I love the sound of a Custom 5/Jazz setup I have in a poplar-bodied Music Man.

C5 can balance with jazz well. Consider an a2 magnet or uoa5 magnet swap if you need an eq change. Experiment with pup heights first.

This really seems like a case of these kinds of adjustments and not of needing a new pickup. If you want a bit lower output and a more rounded sound go for the a2, which is a custom custom. This is a highly regarded pickup. The uoa5 will be qbout the same output as the a5 without the a5's mid scoop, and with more going on in terms of harmonics - it sounds fuller.
