Bridge pickup for metal

Re: Bridge pickup for metal

Even the Nazgul's cleans are not without their place IMO. They are very far from anything you'd call sparkling or pristine, but if you (correctly) bought the Nazgul to play metal, you'll be able to get some solid "metal clean" tones: sharp, brassy, and bright, for the kind of intro sequence you just know is going to lead to something brutal and distorted a couple minutes later. :P

Anyway, I still think the Black Winters are the optimal choice for the OP. The bridge pickup alone will give you what you're looking for, and the neck pickup is insanely versatile. If you have coil-splitting on your guitar there is even more fun to be had.

Re: Bridge pickup for metal

The Nazgul doesn't sound bad however I prefer the Black Winter bridge myself. I went with a Pegasus and Sentient for right now because it really does peak my interest and while the Black Winter might suit me better I've heard some pretty good stuff from a Pegasus in a few videos. That being said I'm probably going to also get a Black Winter bridge soon because it does sound mean and I do want one. My guitar is an HSH and I usually use position 2 (Neck split with the middle pickup) for my cleans anyways so bridge is pretty much purely for high gain situations for me.

Make sure to post some clips - would love to hear the difference between your Pegasus and the Black Winter.
