I recently bought a screamin demon to put in the neck position of my guitar , before i installed it i flipped the magnet so that it was oriented like a neck magnet would be and wired the pickup as usual . the pickup sounds great but for some reason when i switch from bridge to neck the neck pickup is noisy , i check ed the grounds and re checked them everything is fine , should i have just left the magnet as is ? i have been searching and it seems guys are just putting the bridge pickup in the neck spot as is. help me out . thanks guys

Flipping the magnet should not affect hum rejection UNLESS you are running the Screamin' Demon in a coil split mode in combination with another pickup. The likeliest explanation is that you damaged one of the wires inside the pickup when you slid the magnet.

i do have a coit tap switch for the demon but would that cause it to hum slightly when in humbucker mode?

Like was said...only if you damaged one of the wires in the pup which would make it function in split mode without the non-functional coil being grounded.

Check the pickup (each coil separately) with an ohmmeter. If I remember correctly the Demon is about 10k ohms, so each coil should read about 5k.

Yeh, you shouldn't need to do any mag flipping just because you move it from the bridge to the neck.

Also, if you only flipped the mag, and then wired everything as usual, the pups will be out-of-phase with each other when both are selected.

Magnet flipping and reverse conductor wiring is only necessary on dual HB guitars if the humbuckers undergo coil splitting in an attempt to achieve fake Stratocaster tones. e.g. PRS, some Ibanez, some Fender Double Fat models.
