Hi all,
I built a tele's the problem is the volume of the bridge pickup. two knob set up ,three way switch, 500k pots Humbucker in neck and SD hot stack in bridge. Center switch sounds great, Neck position switch pickup sounds great when i switch to the bridge pickup it sounds thin and low volume. If i turn up the volume it sounds good but i didn't think it should be like that. PS i am a bass player not a guitar player. Any Ideas?

Re: Bridge pickup volume

My guesses/ideas/questions:

Did you wire the bridge hot stack so only one coil is working?
Did you try raising/lowering bridge and neck to balance them out?
What wiring diagram were you following? Is 500k the right value for hot stacks?

I used the wiring diagram that came with the pickup. If i change the wiring will it have more power when played by it;'s self.
It seams to me that bridge pickups on a whole (because on there position on the guitar) just don't have the push that a neck pickup has. I picked this pickup because it is a hot
pickup . A 2 volume set up would be better but i can't put it in this guitar Thanks for your help.

... or can you?
A concentric pot à la Jazz Bass would fit the bill nicely, and better still a twin set, each with volume and tone for each pup.
Most of online parts suppliers have some available, mostly 500/500 or 250/250 (with at least Allparts offering a 500/250), but I'm pretty sure I found a specialized electronics (a co.uk at a wild guess) site which, along with the usual offerings, could manufacture concentric pots based on customer specs, such as 1meg/500 and the like.

Re: Bridge pickup volume

What pickup is it, and what is the stock wiring????

Try wiring the bridge pickup directly to the output jack, disconnecting the other wiring first.......the hot lead should go to the tip lug, and the ground leads to the sleeve lug. If the problem is still persists then it is an issue with the pickup itself.
