Bridge PU with more low end?

Re: Bridge PU with more low end?

Just looking at all the equipment on the market makes it painfully obvious to me that what works for one musician isn't the best option for another.

We rarely agree on anything here. It's all coming from different tastes & perspectives, using different gear, & we're playing all kinds of genres.

Re: Bridge PU with more low end?

Blueman was kind enough to send over a A2 magnet and I swapped that out in the JB today. This is a much better match than before - the highs are rolled-off quite a bit and the low end is just where I want it. Overall, not as harsh, not as loud, and warmer.

Welcome to the world of mag swapping. Changes the way you'll look at PU's from now on. Instead of buying & selling PU's constantly, trying to find the tones I'm after, I've swapped magnets. My guitars sound better than ever, and I've saved a fortune. A lot of times you have the right PU, just not the right magnet. You may just need a bit more of something, or a little less of something else. Why gamble on a new PU, that probably needs tweaking too. The best advice you'll get here is "Work with what you have." Like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, you often already have the solution, so why keep searching?

I never liked the stock JB myself, but with an A2, it's really a nice PU. Thought you'd agree.
