what exactly are the advantages of putting a bridge pup in the neck position? and would this be a better idea than just using a neck model?

Re: bridge pup in neck?

I've had the Duncan Custom in the neck position of a Les Paul and a HSH Ibanez. The main advantage is volume. Bridge pickups are made to be louder because there is less vibration at the bridge. So, put the loud pickup where the string vibration is louder, i.e. the neck position, and voila! Jimmy Saviano, a guy who worked at Reliable Music in Charlotte, turned me on to that in 1988. Custom neck and Distortion bridge was a great combination for 80s metal.
