I am currently building a strat style guitar and i was wondering if it would be possible to mount a hardtail bridge when it is drilled for a trem. or if it would mess with the sound of the guitar.

Everything you do to a guitar "messes with the sound", however that may be what you actually want. Done right a trem to hardtail conversion could give you more sustain, and tightness to the bass part of your tone. I just saw an ad in GP for a conversion bridge, made by Custom Shop Parts, but I can't get their website to come up.

I was going to get a whole new body for my Number One Strat so I can do a proper hard tail (string thru like a Tele). I am curious how yours will turn out though with that conversion. Let us know!
