It's not really that hot. It's fat and compressed and full of lows and mids but the overall output is about the same as a Super Distortion.

Yeah the X2N totally smokes the super3 in regards to mere output, but they actually feel like they lend fairly close to the same amount of gain, or perceived gain.

I had a Steve's special a long time ago. The reduced mids work great in a middy guitar, but I wouldn't say it increased clarity.

I really think the super 2 is a great choice for your kind of situation.

any pickup that easily allow alot of harmonics and is somewhat bright will work.
