I've always used the LPS as the phase inverter, never even occurred to me to try it in v1. The amp I'm sticking the tubes in has one preamp tube and one power tube, so, if I don't like it, I'll sell them to the forum most likely.

I tried my lps in v1 of my marshall...warm/thick/muddy. take your pick. if I had a really bright/thin amp, like the Tubemeister 18 it would be great.

I do love it as a PI. I've had it in the Marshall and now the Orange.


the older sovtek short plate tubes...wa, wb, etc. yeah those are bright and strident.

I pulled the sovtek 12ax7wa and tried an eh 12ax7, and tung sol. The tung sol is definitely staying in there for now.

Tung-Sol is my "go-to" V-1 tube. Like it in there in every amp I've tried it in. I got a pair of them "high gain graded" from Dougs Tubes......
