hey guys i have a bc rich bich that i got about ten years ago. this is my baby. ive played it daily since i got it. the frets are starting to wear out. the pickups need replaced. my fiance knocked it over yesterday and broke the nut... so ive decided to just completely redo the whole guitar. i need info or opinions on fret wire and nut material. so far i'm thinking of going with stainless wire with a bone nut. im gonna have some black winters installed with new pots and hardware. also whats a good brand of locking tuners??? fire with your knowledge!

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

Can you post a pic? I might have something you'd find interesting for the nut...

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

My favorite locking tuners are schaller :bigthumb:
But it will mostly be about finding a design that fits I bet

never heard of them. my main concern is price at this point. i want to get everything done without spending a fortune. my tech quoted me at around $700 for everything i want done and in about a 2 week time frame

Damn shame can't get BWs in Dbl Cream, although I'd Cream Ring it.Maybe some Bobbin Toppers?

AFA tuners go,gotta go w/teh Grover Imperials!
:D

Looks like a fun project tho,esp if it's got the mileage!

Nothin' like a good Bich. Hot guitar, bring her back to life GOOD, my friend. You gotta let us know how the Black Winters sound in that beauty. BTW, can you get double cream from the custom shop if you wanna go that way Rand-O?

Dunno,to be honest.
Like to think so,but I think they even stopped doing Dbl Crms w/ covers.
Never been in a CS situation, tho,.

There "was" a Dbl Crm Perpetual Burn on the TP recently. Not sure if it was put together from Zeebs?

:fingers:

Last i tried double cream was a no go from the CS. Cover no cover didnt matter all no go.

But I have seen a few sneak out from normal production. I know SH55's and antiquities there is always a chance of getting double cream under the cover but no idea how the others are coming about.

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

I have the Tusq nut and saddle on a guitar. That is an excellent combo. Sperzels are my favorite locking tuners. Check the sizing on them.

How close are you to Columbus or Dayton? I know some folks in those areas that might be cheaper and worth the drive. Shame to spend more money to fix it than buy a new one. Your guy sounds expensive.

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

im about an an hour and a half from dayton and about 2 and a half from columbus. yeah it is a bit pricey but he does great work and hes only about 5 minutes from my house, so thats a bonus.

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

That's an awesome guitar. If you wanna DIY, you can get Corian samples from anywhere that installs kitchen countertops. I had a pile big enough to do about 20 guitars that I got free, I just really suck at cutting nuts. I ended up giving all of the corian to the luthier that worked on my last guitar. And if a no-talent hack like me can install pups/wiring etc, there's no reason YOU couldn't put your own in. All you need is a soldering iron, and the wiring guide right here on the website! I was intimidated at first, but after the first one turned out, I ended up getting a dozen other projects going. It's addictive!

Re: Bringing an old Bich back to life!!!

yeah i installed an old set of pups out of an old hondo les paul in this bich a few years back and it worked but the pups were to weak and the feed back was horrible. so i bought the current pups off ebay and payed my tech to install them. there cheap garbage pups. hence why i wanna get new ones and have them done right the first time.
