Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

Am I the only one who hasn't gotten it yet (or maybe me and the architect?)

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

A man after my own heart! I just installed the BB in my R7 and am quite impressed so far. I would say that it has prominent mids, nice chimey top end and solid but not farty low end. It is very rich and complex sounding and seems to have slightly less output than the Wagner Filmore that it replaced and has a similar tone though a bit tighter overall. It matches with the Filmore neck quite well, though I had to lower the neck even more and raise the BB to balance out the output. This pup is a sure winner for SD, imho. This pup is a keeper, but I'll have to spend some more time with it in the R7 to figure out whether or not to put the Filmore Bridge back in and save the BB for another guitar. But rest assured, this is a kickass pup! Great job MJ!!!!!

It's going in my LP Goldtop.....Brobucker Bridge/Jazz B in neck position.

I just sold off several pickups, and realized that most of my current ones in guitars are Antiquities or Duncan Custom Shop in white/blue boxes.
I can't wait to hear this new one!

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

Not yet here either. Hopefully tomorrow or Thursday at the latest I would think.

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

Mine isn't here either. I've been waiting for UPS for two days, but I can wait another. Or another. Or however many :D

Have not got mine yet either...but so far the reviews sound very promising !

Maybe this bad boy will end up having to go into production! ;) :D

Wasn't that the original reason for this firestorm? Many were saying this is the pickup that should already be in production. Only time will tell, and based by the reviews, hopefully that may come true. :fingersx:

Think about what a great marketing test this is. Beta-testing over 50 pick-ups and making money on them in the process. Absolute marketing genious.:bigthumb:

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

I installed mine tonight in my LP Goldtop....Brobucker bridge/ Jazz B in neck position. It's really a great sounding pickup for blues to classic metal, since it's like a 59B with more guts and mids with more character.

It's crisp clear and punchy for cleans, and the frequencies all sound nice and natural for clean to pushed clean.

With varying shades of gain, it has a sweet and tight PAF sound that reminds me instantly of AC/DC and Black Sabbath, and the dunaged magnet seems to really give the pickup a more vintage sound underneath the fairly hot wind.
On high gain, the pickup has a nice brutal sound that compresses just right, but there's a crunchy edge that makes all the notes ring out clear.
On hotter pickups, heavy palm muted riffs seem to lose their cut, because of the compression on the low notes, but on the Brobucker, it will still sound heavy, but there's clarity that has a nice character.

I'll try and do some clips of it soon, since it's late at night, and I'm just getting my first overall impression. I've been playing it pretty loud until now, and it's just a really good toned hot A5 PAF.

Exactly what was missing with the 59B in my Hamer. Mids/balls/guts.

Awesome. Exactly what I think alot of folks were looking for(?). Certainly what I was. Now I just wish it would get here.:laugh2:

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

Thanks for the review, GJ. Doesn't help my GAS for one any. :laugh2: I just may have to call MJ up soon and ask her to wind me one. And I will pay the extra for it. From what I've read/heard so far, it's worth it.

Re: Brobucker Comes to Life! Lotsa pics!

I still haven't got mine either.

Sounds like a great pup, Joe how does the aged A5 compare to an A2? I was planning on switching magnets, but if this sounds pretty amazing......

I wonder if SD would send another pup into production with an aged mag that isn't and antiquity?

Also was the cover soldered on?

I think there are. I think there used to be a gauss chart with a catalog, or online or something.

Nope, UPS came and went with no Brobucker today.

Edit: OOPS--my wife had picked up the box and brought it in the back way. What a surprise when I got my BROBUCKERS!!!!

Surgery is scheduled for the PM. Let's see!
