Broken Acoustic bridge... need replacing?

The bridge on my acoustic split right through where all six pins go into the body. There's no intonation/tuning stability/etc. problems, you can't even see the split unless you play the guitar. Is it needing replacing? More or less the guitar... the original cost of the guitar will be under what the repair would be I'm sure :laugh2: :smack:

You can buy replacement bridges pretty cheap. As for removing the old bridge you will need a putty knife and a can of sterno. I will see if I can find a schematic of how to replace it. Otherwise I am sure you can find that info on the web. Just heat the putty knife a little and work it under the bridge. Then you can sand down the area with some steel wool and glue the new bridge back on with wood glue. Although you will need some elongated C clamps to hold the bridge to the soundboard while the glue dries.

It's going to need replacing. Visit FRETS.com to find out why it split, to avoid in the future. Use heat to "melt" the glue holding the bridge to the top. Once it's removed, use a small scraper to remove the glue. Onces done, you need to glue the bridge back on. Like ID said, you need elongated c clamps. It's actually pretty simple. If you're to leave it like it is now, it will cause much more damage later.
