Broken Coil: Conundrum

So... One of my favorite guitar sounds in the world is the neck pickup of my Jaguar. But there's a problem: the whole time I've owned the pickup, it's been broken.

I managed to break a coil installing the thing. So I removed a wind, tied it back together somehow and soldered; this has worked for a decade.

I don't think I notice any reduced output from the one removed coil or increased microphonics; then again, I wonder if I'm actually just fooling myself and coping without realizing it. Then AGAIN I think this is one of the nicest sounding guitars ever, so I wonder how much I should mess with that.

So, would you:

-Not bother with it; it's not a real issue, don't fix what isn't (too) broken
-Get it rewound by SD; it can only get better and will likely cause issues to not get it fixed if I play louder/with more gain (it's an SJAG-1)
-Buy another SJAG-1 and keep the old one on the off case that it's "magic" somehow

Your first sentence answers the question. Why do you want to change it?

you will not hear the difference of one or two winds

Unless it isn't working, I don't see the need to change it. If you like it (and it seems that you do), then just play happily. You have a unique pickup. New ones might or might not sound the same, but unless you are replacing it, who cares?

Re: Broken Coil: Conundrum

Thanks for the advice; part of me just doesn't like the idea of it being 'broken.' Anyone else actually use a pickup with a coil break, with any different result?

When I repaired it, I had to leave some slack in the wind due to not being able to solder so close to the coil; so I twisted up the remainder and taped it down. I was worried about excess squeal, but again, if it is more squeal-prone I don't notice it now.

I have a rewound Slash APH-2b (not by me) that has both coils working, but sounds a bit unusual - takes a lot more to push it into overdrive compared to my hot rail (but then it is a hot rail). It sounds thick as hell when it does so I'm just going to keep it this way, whether it's been rewound to spec or not.
