Whilst on the subject of wire, does it make a difference if the wire is multi stranded or a single solid strand, as far as tone goes?

As far as tone goes, no.

I do find that single-stranded tends to work better in situations where you have to do intricate wire-routing with clean bends while multi-strand will be more flexible.

Check out what Hiwatts back in the day looked like with single-strand wire.

So what about a wire about the size of a phone wire (the single ones inside the jacket that are different color) would that work? It is solid copper and NOT stranded.

That would work. The wire can be very thin.

I actually did that once. I found that it was a bit more fragile than I would have liked and kept breaking where I stripped it (normal usage has a crimped connection without stripping).

Yes it is VERY fragile if you haven't worked with it a lot. I have to deal with it everyday so I guess it's almost second nature on how to do it. I have a lot of it that I can use on my work truck that I think I will use instead of trying to find the stranded size in my shed.

No, neither of those things is strongly related, or related at all, to the wire gauge.

Ok. I just wasn't sure with that type wire not having a thick insulation on it. I will have to use that then. I like to have things nice and neat on anything. So you think it will work on the output as well?
