Broken Pearly Gates Plus-HELP!

BACKGROUND:
Hi, my buddy brought over his Fender Lone Star Strat to have me look at his guitar cause it didn't sound right at all, & he had already determined that it was his Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus that was having problems-only 1 coil is working! :smack:

This is a totally new development as it has worked perfectly fine since he bought the guitar new & is the only owner & also because no one else uses it. We just tossed another pup in there for the time being so he could continue to use his axe.

Here is my QUESTION:
Does Seymour Duncan give support for these pups or should we contact Fender since the pup came stock in the guitar? I also know that it's pretty much only available from the Fender Custom shop as an 'aftermarket accesory'... but that sucks that it just stopped working out of nowhere.

Any recommendations?

Could be just a wiring problem and the pickup itself is fine. Is it a 4-conductor or just vintage braided shield?

The Pg+ is a 4 conductor pickup. Is his selector switch working properly with the new pickups.

Yes, the newly installed pup is working fine. So that leads me to believe that the pup itself has a problem somewhere. Neither of us can figure out what has happened as 1 of the coils just simply stopped working 1 day.. :eek13:

He noticed it when he was switcing the selector switch & there wasn't the familiar sound being heard-he has had this guitar for about 4-5 years & it is/was completely stock until now.
