bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

i might just do that. how would the patb 3 sound in the neck instead of the patb1n bdo you think

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

Actually I've been wondering the very same thing but there is no neck PATB-3 version and the PATB-1n is considerably less hot than even PATB-3.

In short I am not sure if it'd be a good match at the neck...
I'd be a hell of a lot interested to know though...

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

looks like im gonna order the patbs since they seem to the be most agreed upon pickup set to throw in i can live withthe black too since it pretty much fits in with the guitar just find

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

im still a bit curious about the lws i mentioned but they arn't really out yet so ill talk to the luthier and have him order the pu's i guess

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

bump just to see if there is anymore agreement/disagreement as to the PATB set

or maybe some sound clips of them doing some good thrash ;)

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

Well, you know I like the idea. Basically I'm looking for an excuse to get another Crazy 8 (the excuse being that I don't have a gutiar to put it in yet :9:) so there's really not much for me to say on this ;)

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

im just wondering something i neglected to mention, would having the guitar in C tuning not work with the PATBs/C8

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

I haven't really tried it but I don't see why not...

it should work fine.....from what I understand, daemon barbeque <sp?> said that when he went below Ab tuning on his 7-string that it started to sound muddy, so he swapped a ceramic mag into his CS 7-string PATB pickup to get more tightness back on the low B, but that's on a 7-string too...on a 6 I can't forsee having that issue...I love my Crazy 8 in the bridge and will be getting a PATB-1n for the neck to match as soon as I can find one used either in here or on e-bay...

side note - I originally had a PATB-3 in the neck of my Quicksilver (korina body, maple/ebony neck), but it was installed by accident and was not what I had asked for when I ordered the guitar.....it didn't seem like a good pickup for the neck, IMHO - too much output and just plain not meant to be.....I now wish I had kept that PATB-1n that was (also mistakenly) originally in the bridge though! Oh well.....

well then that should work then, im gonna email he builder and tell him to put a C8, PA stack and PATB 2 in my V, thanks bros

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

I'm not sure you want a PATB-2 in the neck, that's a REALLY hot pickup meant for the bridge :9:

BTW, the Crazy 8 is by all accounts a rock pickup but it's not super hot, just about as (perceivably) hot as a JB, and in truth it's a tad less.
I of course love it to death and if you've got a hi enough gain rig (which I'm sure you do) then it'll do great (in my experience it takes gain great)

i meant 1 my bad 2 is the distortion right? if that's the case i meant 1 :p

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

I'm envisioning your axe loaded with PATB's and it reminds me of an old Duncan ad in the guitar mags back the early 90's (around the time the PATB-2 was released) that showed Tony MacAlpine (back then, WITH the long hair!) with a custom white Washburn superstrat loaded with PATB's in a H-S-H config.....too cool.....

well it's definitely not a superstrat, i've posted the design before but it's a king v style guitar ;)

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

Ah, I guess that would have been before he switched to Carvin.

I too would be really interested for a PATB-3n.
Why don't you ask the CS if they can do that as a Floor Shop Custom?
If they can then it won't have a big upcharge ;)

oh i meant my guitar not that dudes i know the name but not the guitarist.
I might but i just figure it's a bit hassle since ordering pickups in australia is a huge pain (i had to pay like 50 extra bucks to order in the pickups for my les paul just to have them wax potted O_o)

wha would you say i should use with these, 500k pots?

Re: bros you choose some thrash pickups for me (repost)

Yeah, I knew what you meant ( remembered the King V part).
I meant he was playing the PATBs before he switched to Carvin :9:

The Custom 8 is a custom shop pickup anyway (unless you can get it off the hands of a forum bro). I think new it costs 160 US$. I paid 92.5€ myself shipped to my door which is REALLY cheap seeing how your typical run-of-the-mill JB is 86€ and up here ;)

If you can, buy from a forum bro who also is a dealer, I think some ship overseas as well. I think they could send them quite cheaper than to have them imported another way ;)
