Seems the good ones have a lil story to go with them. Hope this one isn't to long.... :naughty:
Time for this week's cutie.
Here is the full story on this guitar from the day we met until I bought it.
I went to my first Dean Owners of America Open House in 2004. One of the first people I started chatting to was a guy nicknamed Thor. His member number is 02 0081. Which is a variation of my favorite number 128, or 0128. As we are talking about this we are walking in the artist room at Dean HQ. I tell Thor if there is any guitar ***128 or ****28 I'm gonna have a hard time NOT taking it home. I scan the room and instantly see and gravitate to this Natural TC Z. I take it off the rack, look it over lustfully, and glance at the serial number, 03 00628. :eyecrazy: I hail Thor and turn the headstock around for him to view. His response is something like, that aint right, or something along those lines... :approve::cool2: :eek5:
Wow, was my response, and I thought about that guitar all day and for the next month. So much that I called up Dean, and went back over to HQ there to play it and drool on it a lil more. We talked about shipping it out to a local dealer and me purchasing it.
A few months and a few guitars later it is time to make a choice on what to jam at DOA 2005. I put together with Thor and another guy Dave on guitars to do a UFO tune. At the jam Dave goes over and picks up a Z , turns around, and I'm floored he has chosen the same TC Z 03 00628. All the guitars they have, Dean brings this one to the jam and Dave chooses to play it on the song we are doing. Couple months later still thinking of that Z, I talked with a couple dealers about getting it, but I just couldn't.
In 2006 I saw this guitar on Funky Munky Music's site and I saw it made an appearance or two on Evilbay. Well, mid January 2007 my heart jumped seeing FunkyMunkyJon's posting, with my name on the F/S posting no less, with this Time Capsule Z listed at a blowout price. Then someone posted about getting it. Well, I didn't think I would let it get away so easily that time. I posted a Hamer Standard for sale and Bad Jaxx sprang on it. I think he made a wise choice in helpin' a Dean/Hamer brother out. As if all this wasn't cool enough Jaxx said he was looking at a few guitars the weekend before and said to himself, might wanna wait, a cool Hamer might come along.
So when I was calling him to tell him I was gonna get that cool Standard out to him the next day, I realised the last four number to reach Jaxx are 0628. :eyecrazy:
