Re: Bugera v-22 Infinium or Egnator tweaker 15watt
I wasn't all that impressed with the Tweaker 15 but I didn't spend all that much time playing through one. I do like the Rebels, especially the Rebel 30. I was looking specifically for an EL 84 amp and the Egnaters got me side-tracked a little bit. But I seriously considered the Rebel 20 despite not being an EL84 only amp. It was right at the very top of my budget and ultimately, I knew I would be settling for the 20 when I "wanted" the 30 (mainly because it's a 2 channel and the 20 isn't). Sorry, I know you only want input on the Tweaker or the V22.
As far as the EL84 amp, I really liked the Bugera and not just because of the price. I ultimately took the risk on the Bugera V22HD partly because of the price but I liked it compared to others that I was able to check out inside my price range (I thought I was going to end up with a Carvin based on playing one earlier).
I think I mentioned in another post that I don't think I would buy a Bugera if it was going to be my first tube amp or only amp, just based on reputation for possible QC/quality issues and mixed reviews on dealing with warranty service if needed. I haven't had a single issue with mine and I really like the amp. But it's not my first tube amp or my only amp. It's also fantastic with a 12AY7 in V1 if it still provides enough gain for your needs with that tube. Really gives a lot wider range to the gain knob on the lead channel. Otherwise, a 5751 helps as well. I usually plug straight in these days and I don't play out anymore but it takes pedals well too. I'd also like to put a tube rectifier in it. If it is still surviving past the warranty, that may be something I look into doing. If you do decide on the Bugera, consider purchase from a dealer who offers an in house warranty. I got mine from Sweetwater which offers a 2 year at no charge. I think Musicians Friend has an option too (they may charge for it). It covers the amp if Bugera ends up being a pain to deal with for warranty service. Real good piece of mind to have it backed by the dealer, especially if money is tight. Same may apply to Egnater. I read some things that weren't very complimentary of their service. Specifically on a know issue with the power transformers on some model/models. I think they fixed the issue by using different transformers on newer models but from what I've read, they were a nightmare to deal with and didn't always make it right on warranty claims.
Those are my honest thoughts. Go with whichever you prefer and good luck.
